For this year we are getting a 1/4 beef and will be taking our pigs to be processed. This will be our first year in our new home and the first time we will have a full kitchen.
But the biggest problem I fear of having a freezer full of meat stocked is not knowing what exaclty is in our freezer, or forgetting we have it there. We have our household refrigerator freezer drawer, but we also have a number of external freezers and deep freezes for food storage.
My goal is to keep this freezer organized and to be able to keep track of how much meat we are going through, how much we have left, and how much we are saving a year by not purchasing it from a big box store.
I also want to keep a good track of how fast we use the meat to plan for the coming years and to know how much beef we use as a family.
I created a sheet that was simple at keeping a good inventory at all times. I’m also sharing this with you, for free.

Now, too often we see kids, young kids, glued to iPads, iPhones, and electronics. Our generation is said to be the last to have experienced a childhood before the internet took over. 📱🚫
I want my kid to experience the childhood I had. Here are a few ways that I am going to try to do that:
- Spend more time outside together 🌞🌿
- Limit my personal time on my cell phone and internet aside from work (we set the examples for our kids) 📵⏰
- Encourage activities that don’t require electronics 🎨🚴♂️

IM SO EXCITED for how this is coming together.
I’ve always struggle with wanting a super nice chicken coop but wanting to be able to keep my chickens free ranged and moving around the yard, but giving them warmth through the winter.
So instead of building a new static coop, I decided to give my grandpas old covered wagon a new life on our farm. This little piece makes me smile so much already.
It’s been a really fun project and I can’t wait to add a few of the finishing details soon!
